Underwater film at the Royal Observatory to celebrate rare astronomical event, the transit of Venus.
ReKindling Venus is a film, especially created for planetariums, immersing us in the intricate, complex life of the marine environment. The beautiful underwater realm of fluorescent coral reefs and bioluminescent sea creatures fills our vision, as we rise slowly upwards from its depths towards the moonlit surface.
ReKindling Venus is created by Australian artist Lynette Wallworth, whose large-scale video works explore the immensity and intimacy of the natural world and our relationship to it. This is her most ambitious work to date, positioned at the cutting edge of art and technology, science and beauty, astronomy and marine biology.
