Bjarne Melgaard
An artist who pushes the envelope of Contemporary Art, Melgaard is meeting art lovers at Galeri Artist Istanbul with a solo exhibition which will run from the 12th of April to the 2nd of May.
For Bjarne Melgaard the exhibition space is one which can be used continually and in its entirety. In addition to works hung on the walls, he expresses himself through various objects placed in the exhibition hall, thus achieving a continuous interaction with the exhibition space. The show at Galeri Artist will consist of oil paintings executed by the artist in 2011.
In his works the artist generally juxtaposes showy graphic drawing and striking colors applied to the canvas with brush strokes. The powerful descriptions found in his works are connected with the darker side of human nature: violence, suicide, sex, religious belief, and the perversions of belief, its various forms.
Melgaard’s works are known for dragging the spectator outside the bounds of social acceptability, and seek liberation by avoiding limits and boundaries, as well as by rejecting classification.
